Awesome news!

Part 1 of my Amazon Booty (Plus bonus HMV Purchase).
Bitchy comment first:
Apple - Pre-Order product, 11 days later, it still hasn’t shipped (I cancelled mine, as a result).
Amazon - Order product on a Saturday. Two days later, item arrives.
/Bitch-Fest.
Anyways, yeah - the first bits of my Amazon booty have arrived:
2x1TB Segate External HDDs [1 live, 1 Backup]
William Gibson - Zero History.
Added pic of Doctor Who - Series 5 Volume 1 Blu-Ray, which I picked up last night, before watching Metropolis (was but a penny more expensive than Amazon).
Hopefully - the second part should arrive today. It’s coming via Royal Mail, however, so it could just as easily arrive in 2015.

The “Books” I’ve read - August 2010:
David Wolstencroft - Good News, Bad News.
John Wray - Lowboy.
Michael Connelly - Angels Flight.
William Gibson - Spook Country.
Bryan Lee O’Malley - Scott Pilgrim Volumes 1 - 6.
Random Facts [New - Ooh the excitement ;) ]:
The author of Good News, Bad News, wrote the first few seasons (aka the good seasons) of BBC Spy show Spooks.
Low Boy wasn’t anywhere on my radar, until reading this review on a friends tumblr feed, which made me decide to borrow a copy from a local library.
This month marks the last appearance (at least, for a long, long time) of the “Big” Michael Connelly book. It previously appeared in the July and May pictures.
Spook Country, by William Gibson, is the second in a series of books known as the “Bigend Books”, due to a character called Hubertus Bigend, who appears as a “background” character. The next book in the series, Zero History, is released in the UK on September 2nd.
The movie adaptation of Scott Pilgrim was released in cinemas in the UK, two days before I finished reading the series. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to watch it before it’s removed from cinemas (due to the low box office returns). If not, it’ll be a Blu-Ray Pre-order.

20 Science Fiction Novels We Can't Wait to Read in 2010

chrisdwoo:

Fuck me. I knew I shouldn’t have read this article, because now I want to read all these books. Not that I’ll have time to finish even one book next year.

The only problem with this list? - The distinct lack of William Gibson.

In reference to that post regarding a wearable computer - I guess until we’re living in a Gibson / Stephenson world, this dual-screen netbook will have todo.

…The clientele were young, few of them out of their teens. They all seemed to have carbon sockets planted behind the left ear, but she didn’t focus on them. The counters that fronted the booths displayed hundreds of slivers of microsoft, angular fragments of colored silicon mounted under oblong transparent bubbles on squares of white cardboard … Behind [one] counter a boy with a shaven head stared vacantly into space, a dozen spikes of microsoft protruding from the socket behind his ear…

- William Gibson - Neuromancer, 1984.

I’m still waiting for the William Gibson version of a Microsoft, to appear, but until that day, I guess I’ll have to settle for this likely brain cancer inducing headware-based computer [More Information]
