Introducing: Inspired by Reddit / Radio 2. In which Michael writes tedious ramblings.
Though not in third person. ‘cause that’d be weird.
Towards the start of the year, I was trying to figure out ways to increase the amount of original content I post to my personal account, along side book and film reviews [Which should hopefully be re-starting soon, including a review of Looper, which I’ll be watching Monday evening!!].
At the time I happened to be listening to the Radio - specifically Radio 2, and as sure as night follows day, it just so happened that the Ken Bruce Show [09:25 - 12:00. Including the institution that is, Pop Master] gave way to “The Jeremy Vine Show”, hosted by, surprisingly, Jeremy Vine. The main format of said show, is to talk about the news of the day and discuss it - so yesterday, for example? The Radio 2 website reliably informs me the topics on hand were:
- Hand Grenades [Given the recent murder of two police officers, who were not only shot, but also had a grenade thrown at them.]
- Nick Clegg Apologising for his “u-turn” on tuition fees.
And a few other topics.
So why am I mentioning this? Because it struck me as a good way to generate content - if a topic of discussion catches my attention, why not write about it?
The idea kinda fell by the wayside, but it’s come back to the front of my mind, based on some comments I’ve made on Reddit [actually /r/unitedkingdom].
So I figured why not give it a go. And thus, “Inspired by Reddit / Radio 2” was born.
It’s probably not going to be a regular thing, it’ll just be if something in the news / seen on reddit catches my attention, and I think it’s something I can write a few words about.
I’ll probably tag them as “inspired by reddit” so as to keep track of all of them.
The first two “topics”:
- What problems does Great Britain face in the next twenty - thirty years?
- Why the Death Penalty has no place in a modern, civilised society.
