My local Ikea turns 21 tomorrow…

And to celebrate they’re offering 21 different items at a special price - either 21p or £21.

Included among the £21 offers? These £99 Billy Bookcase with Glass door combos.

FFFFUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!!

/sulks at not being able to goto Ikea tomorrow, or Saturday.

I found out Dave Gorman is coming to my little town in the summer!

He’s touring the country with “Dave Gorman’s Powerpoint Presentation” - As soon as I found out I was straight onto the venues’ ticketing website - unfortunately the few tickets that are left are waaaaay back in the balcony, and having been inside the concert hall before, I’d be unlikely to see anything.

Genuinely gutted! It’s not every day you have Mr. Dave Gorman doing a show less than 2 miles from your front door!

Returned home to the news that the Harry Potter series is now available, legally, in eBook form

What started off as an annoying day, has turned out rather well - The Hunger Games was good, the weather equally, and now this.

Also £4.99 is a good price point IMO.

The question I have - what’s the quality going to be like? Because there’s a fan created “Version” that’s been out for the last few years that puts almost all commercial ebook versions in the shade - the people who created them really, really took a lot of time and care to produce them.

Here’s hoping the legal version[s] are every bit as good, if not better!

[UK]: If you use stamps, go stock up.

As of April 30th:

  • The price of a first class stamp will rise from 46p to 60p.
  • The price of a second class stamp will rise from 36p to 50p.

I’ll refrain from writing a wall of text about this. Mostly because I just wrote a wall of text on twitter, moaning about my isp.

My morning thus far, in tweet form. So much for a relaxed, chillful day. I’ve already missed the showing of The Hunger Games I wanted to see - will now have to goto the 1PM showing.
As an addendum to the above? Natwest DM’d me on Twitter and told me their online department would look into it, even though they were convinced it was an issue with Virgin Media, as a few other VM customers were having similar problems.
Virgin, were adamant it wasn’t a problem on their end, despite the fact I was able to access natwest.com via two separate cellphones, on different networks AND I asked someone with a different ISP to check - they had no probs.
Then, I remembered Google DNS. Changed the DNS settings on my NIC card, stopped and started it - and suddenly I could access Natwest.com
And yes, I’d been paid :)
So now I’ve just gotta kill time, until I can pop off to go see The Hunger Games - a film that, as of the time of writing this, I should be 27 minutes into watching - instead I’ve got to wait 93 mins, until the next showing.
Oh the joy.

You’re not that wrong, though I usually skip the Popcorn. But a cappuccino and the cinema ticket soon adds up - still, at least there’s no awful 3D surcharge on top!
[Actually if it was 3D only, as is becoming the case more and more where I live as they opt to not carry the 2D versions if it’s available in 3D, I wouldn’t be bothering.]

I’ve felt “blurgh” all day…

I’m not sure why either - though I did eat an Easter Egg yesterday [a Doctor Who one - with a mug and everything!] which represents more chocolate in one evening, than I’ve eaten all year.

Anyways, grumble aside, it’s not all bad:

  • British Gas have sent me a cheque for £205 [my account was in credit].
  • I’m off to go see The Hunger Games tomorrow. I might even take advantage of the decent weather and walk it back.

So yeah… A little random perhaps, but I felt like posting “something” but didn’t really have anything to post or say, hence this post.

There are *already* animated Gifs from the midnight screening of “The Hunger Games”

  1. I guess everyone forgot about SOPA and PIPA.
  2. One of these days Hollywood is going to shut down tumblr, because of this kinda thing.
  3. I’m looking forward to seeing the film. It’s not going to be the best film of the year [imo] as I’m waaaaay outside the target demographic, but I liked the first book, so we’ll see how good the adaptation is.

I want this. The fact it’s aimed at people who’re significantly fitter than me is beside the point…
