2011: The Briefest of reviews...
‘twas better than 2010.
- - -
But in all seriousness… 2011 has been a strange, confusing year. At times I’ve felt truly, truly wonderful, at others pretty much isolated from people. Suffice to say it’s been a significantly better year than 2010 - I haven’t seen the inside of different intensive care wards, for instance.
What worries me, however, is how much time...

I swore there and then, it’d be the last time, especially as the software in question [Dreamweaver - back when Macromedia owned it] came with extensive documentation.
Ten years later? I’m sitting here writing a beyond simple, idiots guide on how to use iTunes in conjunction with an iPad.
Oh the joy!

I'm supposed to be enjoying the Christmas build...
Instead I’m sitting here, using a borrowed ‘puter, having been fuming for most of the last day and a bit.
Yesterday, I popped down the road, to see my friends, who own a corner shop. Got talking to ‘em, discussed the Christmas plans [i.e bake ALL the biscuits] and mentioned visiting “the extended” parts of the family, to exchange presents [which happened on...
It's times like these...
When my Kitchen is covered in flour and bits of dough, that I wish I’d have opted to study home economics at school, rather than electronics.
Electronics? Has had bugger all use to me since leaving school
Home economics? While I can cook / bake pretty much whatever I want, I’m sure I’d have picked up tips that would mean my kitchen doesn’t look like a [flour] bomb has...
The Rain... It has arrived!
Blimey - ‘tis like a proper rain shower and everything!
I think my head is going to explode.
grr…
That took considerably longer than it should have.
Ahh Christmas. Aint it grand!
Once more unto the breach, dear friends...
By which I mean I’m off to do the shopping. The plan is to be back home, before the local riff raff wake up.
Although I’m actually running 30 mins behind schedule. So I probably shouldn’t be typing up pointless “status updates” on tumblr.
To the shops…

And the succession “plan” resembles something you’d find on the back of a napkin, after a night of drinking.
And people are reacting as if this is a good turn of events?

Operation: Clean ALL THE THINGS!
Right. So I’ve got a relatively “clean run” up until Christmas. Everything that needed to be finished has been [bar a possible little article] and so attention turns to an important task: Clean the hell out of my little apartment.
I plan to start in the morning, after making a litre of carrot & potato soup, and will CLEAN ALL THE THINGS! until that evening.
Tuesday,...

I've made 4 "mini" Chicken & Mixed Vegetable Pots...
The 4 little ones should turn out fine. It’s the big one that worries me - the pastry started to collapse as soon as it went in t’oven.
Hardly the end of the world, as the big one is for me, tonight, where as the others aren’t - so if anything, the little ones need to turn out nice.
That’s what happens, when you try to stretch the pastry a wee-bit too much.

Thoughts on The Ragged-Trousered Philanthropists?
I’m putting this out to the tumblrsphere, in the hopes that someone who is familiar with the book, can offer up some thoughts.
Basically, someone who uses the shop my friends own, has recommended it to me a few times. I’m vaguely familiar with the title, in that I’ve heard of it.
So aye - anyone who has read it / has thoughts on it, feel free to re-blog of PM me with your...

Still putting together the "shopping list" for...
Obviously the bed’s been sorted, along with new carpet. I’ll either get new curtains, or perhaps get round to putting in blinds.
Then there’s the bookcase. I was going to opt for the cheap ‘n’ cheerful Laiva bookcase, for the cheap as chips price of £14.99. But the more I think about it, the more I think I might be better off getting a huge-ass Billy [this one] and...

Catching up with episodes of Tech News Today.
In other news, the temperature is predicted to go as low as -1°C tonight.
Suffice to say, I’m not impressed at the prospect!

There's a leaked version of The Dark Knight Rises...
I will not watch it.
I will not watch it.
I will not watch it.
‘twas tempting, but I’ll wait to see if they release it officially. If not, I can wait…
Just Pre-ordered my Birthday treat to/from myself. →
It won’t be arriving until January 23rd, but I think it’s safe to say I’ll be wanting to re-watch it, after the series airs on the TV / iPlayer.

3/4s of a bottle of wine? Were I a social creature, that’d be enough to have me either dancing on top of tables, or blowing some random due I “met” in a club 10 mins earlier.
Yay for being socially awkward! As it is, I’ll just have nothing interesting to say through “the haze” on t’internets.
Quick follow-up to that last post...
I’m not “a boozer” by any stretch of the imagination - once, maybe twice a year will I have a wee-drink or two, but I’ve recently been trying various wines.
I’ve tried nasty cheap-ass wine, reasonably priced wine, and “holy shit fuck this stuff is more expensive than liquid Gold”-wine.
It all seems to taste fairly similar.
I’ll be honest with ya -...

Everytime I read articles about bookstores, and...
There seems to be a subtle sense of entitlement that runs through them. Libraries simply MUST remain open at any and all costs, even if it necessitates cuts to other services. Local communities simply MUST support indie bookstores, even if it means waiting for a book to arrive, and paying a kings ransom for it, compared to online retailers.
Maybe it’s because I didn’t grow up reading,...

If that doesn’t capture my interest, I’ll read Foucault’s Pendulum.
Talk about two different types of book.
Plan for the remainder of the day:
Venture to local chav hangout shopping centre, to acquire supplies. Try not to go insane, battling through crowds to get what I want. [Mostly just bits ‘n’ pieces from ASDA]
[Depending on the queues] Pop into CEX to see what Blu-Rays they’ve got on offer.
Return home and make Carrot & Potato Soup.
Retire to bed around 7pm
Read until 12 / 1am.
I might - might - venture...
